It’s ABOUT TIME right? LEGENDARY, comedian, producer, actor EXTRAORDINAIRE, Martin Lawrence receives his STAR on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!
On April 20, an official induction ceremony was held where Lawrence appeared for the unveiling of his new star. President and CEO of HCC, Steve Nissen, served as emcee while Steve Harvey and Lynn Whitfield appeared as guest speakers. Lawrence’s star can be found at 6617 Hollywood Boulevard and it marks the 2,753rd star to be added to the famous walkway.
Lawrence receives his star for the Television category, acknowledging the accolades he has garnered on the small screen. He rose to fame as the titular star of the hit sitcom Martin, which is still a favorite for many fans to this day. He was discovered by TV execs after impressing then with his comedy on Star Search. Lawrence would also serve as the host of Def Comedy Jam on HBO.
Lawrence’s talents have also extended to film, as he has appeared in a variety of movies over decades. He has been seen in films like House Party, Boomerang, Wild Hogs, Nothing to Lose, Blue Streak, Life, A Thin Line Between Love and Hate, and Big Momma’s House and its sequels. He also starred in all three previous Bad Boys movies alongside Will Smith.
“Martin Lawrence has been a staple in pop culture for more than 30 years,” Hollywood Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez said in a statement. “This comedic genius has made many of us laugh for decades and he will continue to do so with his creative television and film moments.”
The comedian and actor was honored with reverent speeches from co-stars and collaborators Lynn Whitfield, Tichina Arnold, Tracy Morgan and Steve Harvey, who showered Lawrence with affection and praise as they reflected on his journey throughout the years.
