It appears there is a PROBLEM over at the popular syndicated morning show ‘The Breakfast Club’! It’s a TALE of 2 WOMEN–Jess Hilarious and Loren Lorosa!
Let’s go back a bit. Jess joined the show OFFICIALLY on February 5th 2024 after an EXHAUSTIVE search for a replacement for Angela Yee who departed in December of 2022. Yee cited wanting to start her own show and have her name on it as the primary reason for leaving The Breakfast Club. But that may not be the ONLY reason. There may have been CRACKS in the foundation way back then. But we will revisit that a little bit later. Yee went on to launch her OWN brand, ‘Way Up with Angela Yee’ February 6th 2023!
Now back to Jess. It’s only been about a year since Jess joined the uber popular platform, but shortly after becoming an official co-host, Jess goes on maternity leave and offers up a replacement in the form of a young talent Loren Lorosa!
Lorosa is a pop culture news correspondent, senior level producer, actress & lifestyle vlogger. Loren most recently completed an 8-year stint as a Senior News Producer/ Reporter with TMZ on Fox in LA coupled with appearances on BET & Radio Hall of Fame show.
Comedian Corey Holcomb had some choice words to say about Jess Hilarious as it pertains to ‘The Breakfast Club’. He questioned how she even got the position because he doesn’t think she has talent, and that she committed career suicide by accepting the position then immediately going on maternity leave allowing the door to SWING wide open for a younger, aspiring talent!
Now the APPROACH may not be the best, nor the messenger. But POINTS WERE MADE! Holcomb and Jess have had their fair share of run-ins in the past. But I agree, the worst thing you can do is leave the door open for somebody else in your absence, and they win over the people that were SUPPOSED to be following you. Let’s call a spade a spade, Lorosa is MADE for this tyoe of platform. Look at her resume.
As soon as she was in place, she hit the GROUND running and offered up JOURNALISM. This is ONE thing that Hilarious LACKED. Lorosa is POISED, she speaks well and she INVESTIGATES stories before she brings them to the table. Some may argue that Jess, although liked and has her strong areas of expertise–this is the piece she could stand to brush up on and not just being the comedy relief for the show.
Holcomb even questioned how she was even considered for the job–he cited her social media presence. Jess has 6 million IG followers, she has 54k followers on X! So she has PEOPLE for her…. right? They took almost 2 years of searching to replace Yee… or so we thought, not it seems even the ‘search’ may have been a rouse in itself. Media personality Kendra G who is a STANDOUT in her own right and a friend to the show cited that the ‘SEARCH’ may not have been much of a search. She claims that she was supposed to test for the vacant slot but was denied the opportunity:
They had a NUMBER of rotating ‘guest cohosts’ for almost 2 years! Some in my opinion were better options that Jess. Sorry, not Sorry. i felt Claudia Jordan, s vet in the game was a viable option. After her FOX SOUL show imploded before our eyes, she was free and came with a RESUME already.
I also felt LaLa Anthony was a good fit, but with her social stature and busy filming schedule, she may not always be available for a syndicated radio show, and frankly, they may have not wanted to dole out the dough it would take to secure either one.
Once Jess came into play and the number of times she was asked to come back, it was pretty CLEAR that that was the person THEY wanted to fill that vacant seat. But almost to the day a year later, it appears those CRACKS are cracking again and there is trouble in paradise. Holcumb’s words must have struck a nerve with Jess because she went on IG LIVE to dish on ALL the DIRT behind the scenes. She says from her own mouth she was not as COOL with Lorosa as we were led to think, and that she was SURPRISED that she was still around after she returned from leave. There are numerous examples of the two bumping heads on air. Jess also seemingly calls out her co-hosts, Charlamagne the God and Dj Envy for not having her back or stepping in to quell some of of the BEHIND-the-scenes discourse, Jess also brings Angela Yee into the mix by saying Yee may have issues as well with the direction of the show which made her jump ship. They are busy selling books. Jess even alluded to the face that Charlamagne told her to PLAY UP the ‘beef’ between her and Loren since the ‘COMMENTS’ were amping up the rivalry…..
So it will be INTERESTING to see just what happens this morning when everyone gets to work! Hostile work environment? You BETCHA! Let’s stay tuned.
