Anthony Joshua has survived a deadly car crash in Nigeria!
The two-time heavyweight champion was a rear passenger in a speeding Lexus SUV that crashed into a stationary truck on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, killing his longtime strength coach Sina Ghami and personal trainer Kevin Ayodele at the scene. Joshua and the driver suffered minor injuries and are stable in a Lagos hospital, while two others escaped unhurt. The incident drew outrage over the lack of immediate first aid and highlighted Nigeria’s road safety challenges, with support pouring in from promoter Eddie Hearn, Jake Paul, and President Bola Tinubu.
The Federal Road Safety Corps in Nigeria have posted an image showing the site of the crash that Anthony Joshua was involved in. Road safety officials say five adult males were involved in the crash – two of whom have died.
Two others “escaped unhurt”. Joshua was “rescued alive and sustained minor injuries”. He was taken for “medical attention”. An update from the Federal Road Safety Corps says a Lexus Jeep involved in the incident was suspected to be travelling “beyond the legally prescribed speed limit”. They say the car lost control during “an overtaking maneuver” and crashed into a stationary truck by the side of the road.
