Black History is EVERYBODY’S history!!
Alexander Miles was an African-American inventor who was best known for being awarded a patent for an automatically opening and closing elevator door design in 1887. Contrary to many sources, Miles was not the original inventor of this device. In 1874, 13 years before Miles’ patent was awarded, John W. Meaker was awarded U.S. Patent 147,853 for the invention of the first automatic elevator door system.

Often referred to as the “Father of Black History,” he was notably the second African American to graduate from Harvard University with a doctorate degree and is credited with being one of the first scholars to study and research the history of African Americans. Minnie Cox- the 1st black female postmaster in the US!
In 1891, then-President Benjamin Harrison had appointed educator Minnie Cox, a Mississippi property owner active in the Republican Party, as one of a handful of Black female postmasters. She served her community so well that she installed a telephone at her own expense so that customers could call to see if they had mail.

Quinton Dixon, a counselor who was placed on administrative leave at his East Baton Rouge middle school, was found dead on the former Glen Oaks Middle School campus on Wednesday.
Quinton Dixon, 44, was reportedly facing a warrant for his arrest on four counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile.

On November 2, 1983, President Ronald Reagan signed the King Holiday Bill into law, designating the third Monday in January a federal holiday in observance of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The legislation to recognize Martin Luther King Jr. Day was first introduced just four days after his assassination on April 4, 1968. Still, it would take 15 years of persistence by civil rights activists for the holiday to be approved by the federal government and an additional 17 years for it to be recognized in all 50 states. Today, it is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service to encourage all Americans to volunteer and improve their communities.

Anthony Joshua has survived a deadly car crash in Nigeria!
The two-time heavyweight champion was a rear passenger in a speeding Lexus SUV that crashed into a stationary truck on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, killing his longtime strength coach Sina Ghami and personal trainer Kevin Ayodele at the scene. Joshua and the driver suffered minor injuries and are stable in a Lagos hospital, while two others escaped unhurt. The incident drew outrage over the lack of immediate first aid and highlighted Nigeria’s road safety challenges, with support pouring in from promoter Eddie Hearn, Jake Paul, and President Bola Tinubu.
