Hal Williams, known for playing Officer Smitty on ‘Sanford and Son’ and Lester Jenkins on ‘227,’ died at his home in Rancho Mirage. The veteran actor appeared in 22 episodes of ‘Sanford and Son’ alongside Howard Platt’s Officer Hoppy and starred in all 116 episodes of ‘227’ as husband to Marla Gibbs’ character.
