Do you REMEMBER when the VMA’s PRESHOW were kind of LOW BUDGET, but still was DOPE!?
Well back in 2007 Pussycat Dolls frontwoman took the stage SOLO to bring us her HIT, ‘Whatever U Like’. The song ORIGINALLY featured T.I., but due to some UNFORSEEN circumstances, he could not make the SHOW, so at the LAST MINUTE, Lil’ Wayne FILLED in for his friends to drop the rap verse. FUN FACT, Wayne IMPROVISED his 16 backstage right before the performance!!!! LEGENDARY STATUS right there!

The LATE great Aaliyah would have turned 46 today!
In celebration of Aaliyah‘s birthday, Barbie is paying homage to the “princess of R&B” with a stunning new doll. Part of Mattel‘s growing Music Collector series, the iconic doll brand honors the late singer’s unforgettable talent and timeless influence on music and fashion that has helped shape ’90s hip-hop culture.

The Aaliyah Barbie doll is inspired by her iconic “One in a Million” music video. The figure is dressed in a black faux leather ensemble with several accessories that scream ’90s, including studded lace-up details, sleek black shades and her signature hairstyle, with hair swooping over one eye. The Barbie team worked closely with Aaliyah’s brother, Rashad Haughton, to develop the concept for the doll and ensure the result was true to Aaliyah’s legacy and persona.
“I can vividly remember my sister playing with her favorite Barbie dolls for hours when we were kids. She would make them sing, dance, and perform little concerts,” said Haughton in a statement. “It’s clear to me now that she was imagining dreams that would eventually become reality when she embarked on a career in entertainment at just fifteen years old.”
Aaliyah broke out onto the R&B scene in 1994 with her incredible debut single “Back & Forth.” She would go on to earn numerous accolades, including three American Music Awards, two MTV Video Music Awards, and five Grammy nominations during her career before tragically dying in a plane crash in 2001.
Celebrate Aaliyah’s iconic legacy with her well-deserved Music Collector series Barbie doll available now for pre-order through Target, with a general release on Jan. 26
Happy Birthday in paradise Aaliyah! Gone but not forgotten… your legacy will live on FOREVER!!!!!

Who remembers the group, STARPOINT!!!??? Starpoint was an American R&B and funk band from Maryland that was active from 1978 to 1990 recording 10 albums during that time. It comprised four brothers and two other musicians.
The five Phillips Brothers (George, Ernesto, Lloyd, Orlando, and Gregory) started a band that played in the basement and living room doing small parties held by their father, Dr. George McKenzie Phillips. The first band was JR and the Royals, featuring George Phillips, Jr. The brothers later added Kayode “Ky” Adeyemo. Ernesto took over as leader of the band when George and Lloyd were sent to college. When George returned, he rejoined his brothers and introduced Renee Diggs to the band. The brothers welcomed Renee to join and a new group began as Licyndiana. Initially playing at parties and small venues, the group began writing music during this time, with Ernesto becoming the primary songwriter. The group decided to change their name to Starpoint and began making demo recordings to get signed to a major record company.
The demo recordings found their way to Lionel Job, who became the group’s manager-producer. He took the same recordings to Ruben Rodriguez at Casablanca records, getting the group its first recording contract.
