In order to be considered for the honor, artists must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years ago. More than 1,200 people in the music business (musicians, historians, producers, journalists) did their part to decide who got in and who didn’t make the cut.
“Induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is music’s highest honor. We look forward to celebrating these remarkable artists at this year’s ceremony — it’s going to be an unforgettable night”, Rock Hall chairman John Sykes said in a statement.
This is the first year Phil Collins, Luther Vandross and Wu-Tang Clan were nominated. All of the others in the performer category had been nominated previously.
Some SNUBS of the 2026 class include New Edition, who actually won the fan vote and Mariah Carey.
