With success of the ‘reboot’ of ‘A Different World’, the stars from the 80’s HIT show have been THRUST back into the SPOTLIGHT! But not all of the renewed interest has been POSITIVE.
With the new show sitting at #1 one NETFLIX for new shows, Jasmine Guy of famously played ‘Whitley Gilbert’ has come under scrutiny for something that a lot have not been blessed to do–AGE.
In a candid post, Guy called out the internet’s harshness toward aging women and urged more love over judgment. Fans rallied in support, praising her iconic career, highlighting double standards, and celebrating natural aging as a privilege, especially for Black women in the spotlight.
Guy addressed the criticism head-on by sharing an Instagram post about aging. “The internet can be brutal to women as we grow older. It asks us to celebrate life while criticizing every sign that we’ve lived it,” she began.
Guy’s post was met with support from her friends, fans and colleagues. Cornell Young IV commented, “You are so Gorgeous! Even a more Gorgeous soul! I love you🤎🤎🤎🤎.”
Felicia Pride added, “Yes Queen. We love you!.” Tina Knowles wrote, “Accomplished , Beautiful , graceful, Lady♥️♥️♥️.”
